Television programmes featuring Hawthorn

There were two programmes made quite close to each other. In the first one, the Hawthorn Entertainment Ltd office is featured in the first of a 4 part series which was recorded on Jan 7th, 2003, and screened on Jan 23rd, 2003.

In this series of four late night programmes, ITV1 Wales' PRESENTERS finalist, John Parton introduced the best of club entertainment to be seen in Wales.

Recorded at four special events at the Cwmfelin Club in Swansea, CLASSY ACTS showcased a complete range of club acts in a live setting.

The web site at the time goes on to say:

John has a great amount of respect towards club performers and thinks they're a cut above the 'Stars' of "reality TV"

"These people are real entertainers who have been working for years towards making it"

"They have to go to some of the hardest venues in the country and have to perform for a living, which is not the easiest thing to do," says John.

The special feature of CLASSY ACTS was that every programme brought to the TV screen performers selected by one of Wales' top entertainment agents.

Each agent provided the programme with a selection of acts on his or her books.

They selected a wide range of types of entertainment - singers, comedians, instrumental performers and all sorts of novelty acts.

As well as exciting coverage of each of these quality showcases of the best entertainment talent to be found in Wales, CLASSY ACTS included behind-the-scenes interviews with the performers themselves as they rehearse for the big night and as they get ready to go on stage.

The second programme was called Club Life. This 6 part production featuring Trealaw Social Club, Rhondda, South Wales commenced on Friday Jan 3rd, 2003. We were featured on Friday, Jan 31st, 2003 when we enlisted the services of Bernard Manning & Wendy Kane to raise funds to help the club out of a sticky financial situation.

We then kindly declined an offer to feature in a fly-on-the-wall documentary.
